Target Masters Meets World Record Holder Sniper 1/19/12
This year while we were at the 2012 Shot Show in Las Vegas, Nevada we were able to get to meet the man that holds the record for the longest sniper shot ever made in history. Canadian forces sniper Rob Furlong was a part of Operation Anaconda, a mission to take out Taliban & Al Queda forces in the Shah-e-kot Valley in Afghanistan. During this operation he encountered enemy combatants walking up an mountainside ridge as he was positioned on another ridge opposite them and completely undetected. During this scenario Rob Furlong had to deal with several factors to make a successful shot to shut down enemy supply lines. Running out of his Canadian ammo he loaded a .50 caliber American round into his Mc Millan Tac-50 and squeezed off a shot that took out an enemy combatant 1.5 miles from his position. We were privileged to have the honor of meeting this soldier during our time at the show. If you've never heard his story in full you can view History Channel's short documentary on his record sniper shot below this article.
The Man Behind The Group That Took Down Bin Laden

Recently we had the chance to meet the man responsible for putting together the team that took down Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan last year. His name is Richard Marcinko. He's a retired Navy Seal and the first commanding officer of the elite SEAL Team 6 & Red Cell. He's also a New York Times Bestsellers with his book series Rogue Warrior. During the Iran Hostage Crisis in 1979, Marcinko was one of two Navy representatives for a Joint Chiefs of Staff task force known as the TAT (Terrorist Action Team). The purpose of the TAT was to develop a plan to free the American hostages held in Iran which culminated inOperation Eagle Claw. In the wake of the debacle, the Navy saw the need for a full-time dedicated counter-terrorist team and tasked Marcinko with its design and development. Marcinko was the first commanding officer of this new unit. At the time, the Navy had only two SEAL teams. Marcinko purportedly named the unit SEAL Team Six in order to confuse other nations, specifically the Soviet Union, into believing that the United States had three other SEAL teams that they were unaware of. He personally selected the unit's members from across the U.S. Navy's special operations community, including a special counter-terrorist tactics section of SEAL Team Two, code-named MOB-6. SEAL Team Six would be the Navy's premier counter-terrorist unit, like its Army counterpart Delta Force. While typically a two-year command in the Navy at the time, Marcinko commanded SEAL Team Six for three years, from August 1980 to July 1983. It was a pleasure getting to meet this brilliant man and patriot.
